Jordan returns to celebrate Michael Jordan's college roots with an incredibly striking colorway: the Air Jordan 5 "Black Carolina," also known as the "Black/University Blue." This release reinterprets the historic 1990 model - originally inspired by the lines of World War II military fighter jets-infusing the iconic University of North Carolina (UNC) blue on a dark color blocking.
The upper body is made entirely of soft, luxurious nubuck total black, which wraps around the foot offering a high-strength, velvety matte texture. To break the dark monochrome intervenes a refined game of visible stitching declined in University Blue, which outline the geometric panels of the silhouette highlighting its architecture.
Unmissable is the oversized maxi-linguette covered in light-reflective metallic gray material (3M), topped by the embroidery of the Jumpman black. The inside of the padded collar picks up the Carolina blue hue for the perfect color balance. On the sides stand out the classic matte translucent TPU mesh for ventilation, accompanied on the lacing system by the typical lace fastener transparent with black spring.
The bottom of the shoe keeps the legendary aggressiveness of the original model intact: themidsole made of black polyurethane hosts on the side profile the famous shark teeth painted in optical white. Comfort is ensured by the visible Air Max cushioning unit on the heel, while the base is sealed by a translucent blued rubber outsole with black rubber inserts, designed for traction and comfort.
